Eve Air Mobility from the Embraer Group and UI Helicopter have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in South Korea. The collaboration aims to introduce technical, operational, and regulatory requirements for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the country.
Under the agreement, the two companies will work on integrating AAM into South Korea’s infrastructure by engaging with government and industry stakeholders. Eve will contribute its expertise in urban air mobility (UAM) solutions, while UI Helicopter will leverage its experience in aviation operations and maintenance within the region.
Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve, stated that AAM has the potential to reshape mobility in urban areas, emphasizing Eve’s commitment to supporting the ecosystem’s technical and regulatory development. Sungwieh Albert Rim, CEO of UI Helicopter, highlighted South Korea’s early efforts in urban air mobility and underscored the importance of building sustainable infrastructure for its expansion.
The partnership will begin with Eve’s UAM market survey to gather data on operational feasibility. South Korea has made progress in urban air mobility through initiatives like the K-UAM Grand Challenge, and the collaboration will explore applications beyond Seoul, including rural regions where AAM could enhance connectivity and economic activity.
As part of the initiative, UI Helicopter will work with policymakers to ensure regulatory alignment while incorporating global best practices in AAM development.
