Metallus said the five-year steel IDIQ has a maximum $995 million ceiling, which is not a commitment to purchase that amount.
Metallus press release:
Metallus, a leader in high-quality specialty metals, manufactured components and supply chain solutions, today announced that the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the logistics agency for the Department of War, has awarded the company an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to supply steel for critical defense applications.
Under this single-award, firm-fixed-price IDIQ contract, the DLA may purchase material through delivery orders issued during the contract term. The contract has a five-year ordering period and a maximum ceiling of $995 million. This ceiling represents the maximum amount the DLA may order over the contract term and is not a commitment to purchase that amount.
On September 29, 2026, Metallus received an initial delivery order under the contract valued at approximately $125 million. The company has up to 24 months to fulfill each delivery order.
“This award, along with the initial delivery order, represents another key step in the continued transformation of Metallus. Our momentum within the defense market reflects Metallus’ proven ability to produce specialty steel products that meet the rigorous performance, quality and traceability requirements of critical defense applications,” said Mike Williams, chief executive officer of Metallus. “We are proud to support the DLA and the U.S. military’s readiness mission through steel produced entirely in the United States. The five-year contract will provide a solid foundation for continued collaboration with the DLA and highlights the critical role Metallus plays in supporting our nation’s security.
As demand across all of our end markets for domestically sourced specialty steel grows, Metallus intends to continue investing in our operations and capabilities to help deliver the quality, reliability and capacity our customers depend on.”
