KONGSBERG announced on Tuesday that it has signed a contract with Oshkosh Defense Europe B.V. for the delivery of PROTECTOR RS4 Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) equipped with KONGSBERG’s PROTECTOR Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) capability.
The company said the systems will be integrated on Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) and delivered to the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces.
According to KONGSBERG’s statement, the delivery “will significantly strengthen the Netherlands’ ability to detect, track, and defeat threats posed by unmanned aerial systems.”
“The JLTV was designed as an open architecture platform to rapidly integrate best-in-class technologies like KONGSBERG’s PROTECTOR CUAS,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer, Oshkosh Defense. “This partnership demonstrates how proven platforms can quickly deliver advanced capabilities and will enhance European and NATO resilience to today’s threats.”
The company also said the agreement further reinforces the longstanding partnership between KONGSBERG, Oshkosh Defense, and the Netherlands.
PROTECTOR RS4
The PROTECTOR RS4 is a combat-proven, modular remote weapon station currently in service with 31 nations worldwide. When integrated with the KONGSBERG PROTECTOR CUAS solution, the system enables operators to engage both individual drones and more complex threat scenarios.

PROTECTOR CUAS
KONGSBERG PROTECTOR CUAS is a scalable counter-unmanned aerial system solution designed to detect, track, identify, and neutralize drone threats. The system combines advanced sensors, targeting data, and effectors to deliver a high probability of successfully defeating unmanned aerial threats, even in demanding operational environments, according to the company.
