Navantia, Marine Instruments sign maritime ISR MoU

Navantia and Marine Instruments signed a memorandum of understanding covering intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems for maritime and defence applications. The agreement provides a framework for assessing future collaboration opportunities and joint projects.

Navantia press release:

Navantia S.A., S.M.E., a global leader in the design, construction and lifecycle support of high-tech naval vessels, and Marine Instruments S.A.U., a Spanish company specialized in advanced technological solutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their collaboration in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems for the maritime and defence sectors.

The agreement will enable both companies to identify and develop joint initiatives aimed at defining, integrating, validating and deploying technologies designed to collect, process, manage and exploit information in maritime and defence environments.

This collaboration brings together Navantia’s expertise in naval platforms and the design, development and integration of defence systems with Marine Instruments’ capabilities in unmanned systems, remote sensing, communications and applied intelligence.

The areas of cooperation may cover the entire information cycle, from data collection through sensors to its processing and operational use. The objective is to advance solutions that enhance situational awareness and support a more agile and effective response across a range of maritime scenarios.

“This agreement reinforces our commitment to innovation and collaboration with highly specialized Spanish technology companies. The combination of expertise in systems design and integration, sensing technologies and information processing will help us deliver more comprehensive solutions tailored to our customers’ needs,” said Gonzalo Mateo-Guerrero, Navantia’s Chief Operations and Business Officer.

For his part, Gabriel Gómez Celaya, Chief Executive Officer of Marine Instruments, stated: “This agreement gives us the opportunity to combine our technological capabilities with Navantia’s extensive experience in naval technologies. Together, we will be able to advance innovative and reliable ISR solutions capable of addressing the current challenges faced by the maritime and defence sectors.”

The Memorandum of Understanding will provide a framework for assessing future collaboration opportunities and joint projects. Through this partnership, Navantia and Marine Instruments reaffirm their commitment to innovation, the strengthening of national technological capabilities and their international growth.
