L3Harris Technologies opened a new facility for solid rocket motor production in Camden, Arkansas, USA, on October 20. The opening ceremony reportedly featured federal and local authorities.
The new site will support production of the U.S. Army’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS), alongside other propellant-processing facilities. The expected works at the new establishment are backed by a $250 million contract that L3Harris secured earlier this month.
Back in 2023, L3Harris signed a $216 million cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to support increased demand for tactical missiles, including Javelin, Stinger, and GMLRS. The deal included building new facilities at its Camden, Arkansas, and Orange County, Virginia, locations, as well as equipment and digital upgrades at the Huntsville, Alabama, facilities.
L3Harris is currently executing multiple expansion projects at its Camden site, including the Arkansas Advanced Propulsion Facilities and two new facilities to support PAC-3 propulsion production.
