Türkiye’s domestically developed SOM-J cruise missile has successfully completed a live-fire test, the Ministry of Industry and Technology announced.
Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır confirmed the achievement in a social media post, stating that the test demonstrated Türkiye’s progress in advanced engineering and missile technology.
“The SOM-J cruise missile developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE reflects the level our engineering capabilities have reached,” Kacır said. “In the test, which featured complex maneuvers to evade defense and radar systems as well as very low-altitude flight, SOM-J proved its effectiveness.”
According to Kacır, the missile showcased key features including low-altitude flight, post-launch controllability, and full engagement capability against surface targets.
“Each successful milestone we achieve in the skies contributes to building a fully independent and leading Türkiye,” he added, expressing his appreciation to all teams involved in the program.
