Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) has reached a major milestone in Airbus' A220 single-aisle aircraft program, delivering its 250th cockpit canopy.

The delivery was completed at TUSAS’s Kahramankazan facilities in Türkiye's capital Ankara. According to Airbus design data, approximately 75% of the detailed components in the “build to print” canopies are supplied by Turkish subcontractors, marking a strategic achievement for Türkiye's aerospace ecosystem.

The canopy, a critical component exposed to airflow and requiring extreme surface precision, was produced to world-class standards, with Turkish engineering and craftsmanship playing a decisive role.

TUSAS now supplies roughly 75% of the global market for A220 canopies, positioning itself as a key international manufacturer in this segment.

Production steadily increasing

The A220 canopy program commenced at TUSAS in 2020, with only two units delivered in the first year. Annual production has steadily increased, reaching 74 deliveries in 2024 and 81 as of November 2025. The company aims to deliver 96 units by year-end.

Airbus evaluates TUSAS on two metrics: On-Time Quality Deliveries (OQD) and On-Time Shipment (OTS). While the global average is around 85%, TUSAS achieved 100% on both metrics, earning full marks and commendations from Airbus.

The A220 program collaboration is planned to continue throughout the aircraft’s operational life, with projections indicating TUSAS and Airbus will maintain the partnership at least until 2050.
