The four-ship MILGEM (Milli Gemi – “National Ship”) program for Pakistan is one of Türkiye’s largest naval export projects, carried out under the main contracting of ASFAT. The program includes the construction of advanced corvettes equipped with modern sensors and weapon systems, capable of performing multiple missions including anti-surface, anti-submarine, and air defense warfare.
The first two ships of the class were built at Istanbul Naval Shipyard, while the remaining vessels are being constructed at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) with Turkish technical support and technology transfer, reflecting a strong model of defense cooperation between the two nations. All four ships are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
ASFAT was established within the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Defence in 2018 Fully owned by the state, ASFAT manages and enhances the capabilities of Türkiye’s military factories and shipyards. Through partnerships bridging the public and private sectors, ASFAT provides design, production, training, and maintenance solutions to friendly and allied countries. The company’s portfolio covers key naval programs such as MİLGEM corvettes, MİLDEN submarines, offshore patrol vessels, and various modernization and sustainment projects, contributing to Türkiye’s growing defense exports.
