Founded in 2007, Brazilian shipbuilder DGS Boats specializes in the production of tactical and professional vessels for military and governmental use. Headquartered in Brazil, the company operates two production lines in Rio de Janeiro and an additional facility in Florida, serving both domestic and international clients. With over 200 boats delivered, DGS is a key supplier for Brazil’s armed forces and security agencies, and has expanded its export footprint to the United States and Caribbean markets.
In an interview with Defensehere.com, DGS Boats’ Commercial Director Fuad Gatti Kouri discussed the company’s expansion and operational focus. He emphasized DGS’s evolution from a local supplier to a growing international player in the tactical boat segment.
Kouri explained that DGS designs vessels with durability and versatility in mind, citing the DGS PRO 680 as an example of a platform built to perform in riverine, lagoon and maritime environments. He noted the use of AGP – a high-density polyethylene composite – in hull construction, offering resistance to extreme temperatures, corrosion and reducing maintenance needs to minimum. He also highlighted the company’s alignment with U.S. Coast Guard standards, underscoring its commitment to serving demanding professional users.
Kouri said that DGS’s first client was the Brazilian Navy, which helped lay the foundation for the company’s long-term development. Today, DGS remains focused on tactical and professional boats for armed forces, police units, and fire departments, with a secondary production line in the U.S. addressing civilian customers who prefer military-style designs.
