The order, which was booked in the second quarter of 2025, is valued at around SEK 900 million (EUR 80 million). Deliveries will be made continuously over the coming years.
The Swedish firm’s combat boats are produced by the it’s shipyard in Docksta, which has been manufacturing combat boats for the Swedish Armed Forces since the late 1980s. Since then, hundreds of combat boats from Docksta have been produced for countries around the world. The most recent order from Sweden was placed in June 2024, when 10 combat boats were ordered.
“This order represents a significant addition to Sweden’s naval capabilities,” Mats Wicksell, head of Saab’s Kockums business area, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We are proud that Saab’s combat boats continue to contribute to Sweden’s defence,” he added.
Saab’s Combat Boats
Saab’s CB90 Next Generation combat boat has a hull length of 14.9 m, a beam of 3.8 m and a draught of 0.9 m. Propelled by two mix flow waterjets, the CB90 Next Generation has a maximum speed beyond 40 kts (74 km/h) and a range of 300 n miles (556 km) at a cruise speed of 38 kts.
