Quantum Systems has been awarded two tenders by the Spanish Armed Forces, becoming the primary supplier of mid-range reconnaissance drones. The agreements mark Spain’s first full adoption of the company’s “Family of Systems” concept, involving the acquisition of both Vector and Twister unmanned aerial systems (UAS). A new framework agreement signed in Madrid includes the delivery of 91 Vector systems—equivalent to 182 drones—for use in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Initial deployment is planned for units within the Spanish Army (Ejército de Tierra) and the Spanish Marine Infantry (Infantería de Marina), with deliveries beginning later in 2025. The Vector drone, designed for medium-range ISR missions, will contribute to expanded aerial intelligence capabilities across service branches. The deal positions Spain as the first military customer to integrate multiple platforms from Quantum Systems under a unified operational architecture. In parallel, the Spanish Air Force has procured several Twister drones. These systems are tailored for short-range reconnaissance and will support specialized units conducting rapid and mobile operations. Options for additional Twister units are included in the agreement.

Further details about the deployment of both platforms and the broader framework arrangement are expected to be presented at the FEINDEF 2025 defense exhibition, taking place in Madrid from May 12 to 14.

Quantum Systems, headquartered in Germany, develops electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drones and AI-enabled aerial reconnaissance solutions. The company maintains operations in several countries including the United States, Australia, Ukraine, and Romania.
