Rheinmetall begins assembly of MASS system for Australian Navy

Rheinmetall Defence Australia has commenced assembly of the Multi Ammunition Soft Kill (MASS) system for the Royal Australian Navy. The system is designed to protect naval vessels by deploying decoys that mislead incoming missiles.

Initially, six platforms will be equipped with MASS, with potential expansion across the fleet. The project has created over 30 jobs at Rheinmetall's Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Queensland.

The contract runs until 2027, with Rheinmetall responsible for sustaining the units beyond that period.
