These tests followed earlier evaluations carried out in October for the diesel generator, main switchboard, and fuel purifier module. The shock tests were performed using the barge “Shock Test Vehicle STV02”, operated by Thornton Tomasetti Defence Ltd (TTDL), which specializes in such assessments.
The successful results demonstrate Navantia’s capability to qualify naval equipment under stringent combat survivability standards. They also confirm the expertise of Ingeteam, the manufacturer of the tested equipment, in designing and producing naval electrical propulsion systems that can withstand harsh external conditions while maintaining operational performance. The testing team included representatives from Navantia, TTDL, and Ingeteam, alongside officials from the Spanish Ministry of Defence, the F110 Programme Office of the Directorate General of Armament and Material (DGAM), and experts from Element, a U.S.-based third-party organization ensuring compliance with both British and U.S. military testing standards.
Following the tests, all equipment was transported back to Navantia’s Ferrol shipyard for reconditioning and additional factory testing at their respective manufacturing facilities.
