Halim Othman, founder of the Krisakti Aerobatic Team and a long-time figure in Malaysian aviation, performed a solo aerobatic display at this year’s Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025).

Othman, a former Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot who began attending LIMA in 1991, has flown aircraft such as the MiG-29 and F/A-18. Now aged 59, he continues to remain active in the aviation scene through his company Aerotree Group and as leader of the national aerobatic team Krisakti, which he established in 2011.

Speaking to Defensehere.com during the event, Othman said this year’s performance featured a more extreme solo segment using a single aircraft. “Personally, I never miss LIMA since 1991 as a military jet pilot,” he said. “Today for this LIMA, we do more extreme for one aircraft. The next one, probably the jet team—who knows.”

Krisakti initially started with four aircraft and later expanded to five. The team trained intensively ahead of LIMA 2025, with preparations beginning two months in advance to meet the physical and technical demands of their routines. Their high-energy performance at LIMA 2025 drew considerable attention and was met with strong appreciation from both spectators and aviation professionals.

Looking ahead, Othman revealed that the team is planning to host an Asia-Pacific aerobatic competition in Langkawi, and aims to bring the World Air Race, (similar to the Red Bull Air Race) to Southeast Asia, with potential venues including Jakarta and Putrajaya in 2026.
