L3Harris to supply systems for US Navy’s new ocean surveillance ship

L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a contract by Austal USA to provide systems for the U.S. Navy’s first T-AGOS-25 class ocean surveillance ship.

Under the agreement, Austal USA designated L3Harris as the single system vendor and will oversee the integration of electric and propulsion systems for the new class of vessels. The ships are intended to support fleet security in both the Atlantic and Pacific regions.

“T-AGOS ships are essential for strategic deterrence and operational awareness to meet the Navy’s requirements for anti-submarine warfare readiness,” said Nino DiCosmo, President, Maritime, L3Harris. “As Austal USA’s single system vendor, we will deliver a reliable, high-performing surveillance ship to achieve the Navy’s strategic objectives.”

The T-AGOS-25 ships will employ passive and active acoustic surveillance systems for submarine detection. Featuring a small waterplane area twin-hull design, the new class will be larger and faster than the current vessels in service.
