The Indonesian Navy has selected French defense company Exail to supply unmanned mine countermeasures (MCM) systems as part of its fleet modernization efforts. The agreement includes the delivery of four Inspector 90 unmanned surface vessels (USVs), as well as Seascan and K-Ster mine identification and disposal systems. The systems will be deployed from two new MCM motherships, KRI Pulau Fani and KRI Pulau Fanildo. All assets will be operated remotely from the motherships and managed through Exail’s unified command and control center, powered by the Umisoft software suite.

Installed in the ships’ combat information centers, the C2 system will support mission planning, real-time control, multi-platform coordination, and post-mission data analysis. It integrates sweeping and hunting operations into a single interface to streamline naval mine warfare tasks.

“This new success highlights the strength of our modular MCM solution, UMIS, which is specifically designed to adapt to the unique operational needs of each navy,” said Jérôme Bendell, Head of Exail Maritime Systems. “Its flexibility enables the delivery of scalable, high-performance unmanned systems, configurable for a wide range of mine warfare missions.”

According to Exail, the selection reflects growing interest in flexible, unmanned MCM capabilities across the Indo-Pacific. The company’s UMIS architecture has previously been adopted by several European navies and is designed to operate from motherships or shore-based stations.
