U.S. defense manufacturer Raytheon, an RTX business, has been awarded a $22.9 billion, seven-year contract to accelerate the production of Tomahawk cruise missiles for the U.S. Navy.
The agreement, awarded as part of the Department of War’s Arsenal of Freedom initiative, will support an annual production ramp-up to more than 1,000 missiles. The contract aims to ensure a stable and predictable supply of the munitions for the Navy and allied forces.

Production capacity and supply chain
Raytheon President Phil Jasper stated that the company is making investments in its workforce, technology, facilities, and supply chain to increase production capacity and meet demand. Jasper described the Tomahawk as the Navy’s primary strike weapon, utilized for targeting hostile forces at long distances without risking personnel.
To rapidly scale output, RTX will collaborate with hundreds of small and mid-sized suppliers nationwide.
The company reported that it has already increased manufacturing, delivering three times more Tomahawk missiles in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
The Tomahawk cruise missile provides the U.S. military with a versatile, long-range strike capability that can be launched from a variety of platforms against high-value targets.
