EDGE Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 4iG Space & Defence Technologies (4iG S&D), Hungary’s foremost privately-owned space and defence enterprise. The agreement aims to explore collaborative opportunities in the development of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and space observation technologies.
The MoU was signed at 4iG S&D’s headquarters in Budapest, Hungary, in the presence of His Excellency Saud Hamad Al-Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Hungary. The agreement sets the stage for joint research and development in various critical areas, including counter-UAS (C-UAS) technologies, advanced space observation systems, and operational strategies.
Rodrigo Torres, President and Chief Finance Officer of EDGE Group, commented on the collaboration: “This partnership with Hungary’s defence sector, a NATO ally, represents our ongoing commitment to co-develop cutting-edge technologies with forward-looking nations. The MoU with 4iG S&D further enhances our connections with key European defence sectors and opens the door to new opportunities in autonomous systems and space technologies. As security threats evolve, aligning with trusted partners is essential for advancing innovation and maintaining strategic readiness in emerging fields.”
István Sárhegyi, Deputy CEO of 4iG S&D, remarked: “Today marks a pivotal step for 4iG Space & Defence. We value international collaborations, and partnering with EDGE, a company from the UAE, offers new possibilities to strengthen our ties. We are particularly excited to contribute our expertise in space, anti-drone systems, UAVs, and our exclusive PROTAR target drone technology to this collaboration.”
This MoU follows EDGE’s January 2025 signing of a letter of intent (LOI) with the Hungarian Ministry of Defence (MOD) to explore research and development initiatives, as well as the supply of CARACAL sniper rifles to the Hungarian Defence Forces, marking EDGE’s first provision of such systems to a NATO member state.
