EDGE Group, a prominent defence and technology conglomerate based in the UAE, has made significant strides in its collaboration with the Brazilian Navy by advancing two key strategic projects in naval defence. The agreements, signed during LAAD 2025 at the Riocentro Exhibition & Convention Center, focus on the development of advanced anti-ship and anti-drone systems.
MANSUP-ER Anti-Ship Missile Partnership
EDGE Group and SIATT, a Brazilian leader in smart weapons and an EDGE subsidiary, have formalised a strategic partnership by acquiring the intellectual property (IP) of the MANSUP-ER missile, an extended-range variant of Brazil’s national anti-ship missile, MANSUP. The license agreement covers the production, commercialisation, and royalty terms of both the launch tube and the missile’s combat head.
This agreement builds on the ongoing collaboration between EDGE, SIATT, and the Brazilian Navy, marking a significant milestone following EDGE’s acquisition of SIATT and its subsequent expansion of manufacturing capabilities. EDGE is also in negotiations with international buyers for the MANSUP-ER, which features advanced sea-skimming capabilities, a range of 200 km, inertial guidance, and active radar homing. The missile is set to be integrated into the Brazilian Navy’s Tamandaré frigates by late 2025.
Counter-Drone Systems Development
Additionally, EDGE has entered into a letter of intent with the Brazilian Navy to jointly develop anti-drone systems tailored to naval defence needs. The systems will address threats from autonomous aerial and surface vehicles by incorporating advanced sensors and signal jamming capabilities. A joint working group will be established to move the project forward.
This agreement underscores EDGE’s commitment to enhancing defence technologies and operational capabilities, with a focus on countering emerging threats from autonomous systems. The collaboration is part of EDGE’s broader strategy to strengthen its relationship with the Brazilian Navy and expand its technological offerings to global markets.
EDGE’s engagement in these two projects highlights its ongoing efforts to develop cutting-edge solutions in the defence sector, with a clear focus on addressing modern naval threats while enhancing strategic partnerships worldwide.
