Embraer has issued its first statement regarding the crash of an Embraer 190 aircraft near Aktau, Kazakhstan. In the statement, the company expressed its sorrow over the incident and offered condolences to those affected.
"We are deeply saddened by the occurrence with an Embraer 190 today near Aktau, Kazakhstan. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones affected by this incident. We are closely monitoring the situation and remain fully committed to supporting the relevant authorities," the statement read.The Embraer 190, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines as Flight 8432, was en route from Baku to Grozny when it crashed near Aktau. The crash, reportedly caused by a bird strike, led to the aircraft catching fire upon impact. The Kazakh Emergency Ministry initially reported 25 survivors but later revised the number to 29, including children. Tragically, the remaining individuals onboard did not survive.
The aircraft was carrying citizens of five countries, including 37 Azerbaijanis, six Kazakh nationals, three Kyrgyz nationals, and 16 Russians.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have both expressed their condolences and pledged full support to those affected.
