In a press release by Kaney, Inc., the company announced that it isüpleased to announceüthat it has been selected byüthe United States Air Force for the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program through AFWERX. The program will develop critical flight surface control actuation technologiesüaimedüatüurban air mobility (UAM) andüadvanced air mobility (AAM)üfor civilianüand militaryüair platforms.üWork will be performed by Kaney teams in Rockford, IL and Dayton, OH.
Under this contract, Kaney willüdevelop a family of robust, reliable servo actuators with a common baseüandümodular featuresüto meet the unique needs that result from non-standardized flight profiles.üKaney willüdevelop and integrateüa unique magnetic gear technology developedüby our STTR. This technology will be integrated intoüourüSmart Servo product line,üwhichüis currently a flagship Kaneyüproductüwith over 5,000üunitsüin service on military and commercial aircraft.üKaney's Smart Servo technology will be advanced to enableüSkyborgüandülow-cost attritable air platforms (LCAAT/LCAAPS)üin addition toüORB and AAM/UAM platforms supported byüAgility Prime.
Kaney's unparalleled experience in manufacturing critical military and aerospace motion control products, power generation/distribution, and control will be leveraged for this new product development. Kaney actuators are on test aircraft and iron birds for both new vehicleüdesignsüand type-certified aircraft being modified.
