Türkiye and Indonesia sign strategic defense agreement

Türkiye and Indonesia have taken a significant step toward deepening their defense industry cooperation with the signing of a strategic defense collaboration agreement between Türkish Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense. The agreement was signed by SSB President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün and Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Shamsuddin. A New Phase in Defense Industry Collaboration The agreement aims to enhance defense industry projects between the two nations, fostering long-term partnerships through joint production, technology transfer, and expanded research and development (R&D) initiatives. Türkiye’s expertise in defense technologies and innovative solutions will play a key role in shaping future joint ventures with Indonesia. Highlighting the broader vision of the partnership, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense industry ties during their recent meeting at Bogor Presidential Palace. Prabowo stated, “We are determined to further support defense industry cooperation efforts between Indonesia and Türkiye.” Strategic Cooperation for Regional and Global Security Türkiye has positioned itself as a key player in the global defense sector by sharing its technological advancements and industrial expertise with allied nations. The newly signed agreement with Indonesia is expected to not only enhance both countries' defense capabilities but also reinforce their strategic partnership.

This collaboration aligns with Türkiye’s broader vision of strengthening its international defense industry network, focusing on partnerships that contribute to regional stability and security. Through joint projects, Türkiye aims to provide tailored defense solutions for Indonesia’s operational needs while enhancing interoperability between both nations’ armed forces.
