BOYGA, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by Turkish company STM capable of carrying mortar ammunition, has achieved its first international deployment in an African country.
Designed with national capabilities and actively contributing to counter-terrorism efforts of Türkiye, BOYGA marks a significant step with its inaugural export deal.
The contract for BOYGA's first international sale has recently been signed with a yet undisclosed African country and the deliveries scheduled to be completed by this year.
Initially introduced into the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) in 2022, BOYGA has been integral in counter-terrorism operations, cross-border initiatives, and international military exercises.
Recently, BOYGA demonstrated its precision during the EFES-2024 Exercise by accurately hitting designated targets.
Part of STM's tactical mini-UAV family, BOYGA employs an advanced ballistic prediction algorithm to deliver customized 81 mm mortar ammunition precisely on target.
Its operational capabilities make it effective in asymmetric warfare and counter-terrorism scenarios, offering a 30-minute hover time with mortar payload.
The platform can reach a maximum altitude of 3000 meters (MSL), operate within a 10-kilometer range, and is transportable by a single soldier weighing 17 kg. Integration of the ammunition system is carried out in collaboration with Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE).
