Safran Arriel engine chosen for Robinson R88 helicopter

Safran Helicopter Engines and Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC) have announced an exclusive partnership to equip the new Robinson R88 helicopter with the Arriel 2W engine. The 950 shp power-class engine is the latest variant in the Arriel family and has been selected for its proven performance and durability.

The Arriel family has accumulated over 66 million flight hours worldwide and is recognized as a benchmark in the light helicopter market. The engine powers helicopters used in critical missions such as emergency medical services (EMS), rescue operations, and population protection.

Robinson Helicopter Company customers will benefit from Safran Helicopter Engines' global support network, ensuring efficient maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. Additionally, the R88 will include a comprehensive service package from the moment of aircraft acquisition. This “Serenity package” covers unscheduled maintenance for five years or 2,000 flight hours and includes Premium Health Monitoring and advanced digital services.

Cédric Goubet, CEO of Safran Helicopter Engines, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that the Arriel 2W provides the best propulsion solution in its power range. Robinson Helicopter Company's CEO, David Smith, emphasized the reliability of the Arriel 2W and the added value of the Serenity package in enhancing safety and dependability for customers.

With more than 15,500 units produced for over 40 helicopter types, the Arriel engine continues to be a trusted choice in the aviation industry.
