Putin: Warheads of Oreshnik missile withstand even temperature on surface of Sun

Speaking at the Future Technologies Forum, Putin gave important messages on various topics ranging from Oreshniks to the Arctic.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the warheads of the newly developed Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles can rise to temperatures above the surface of the Sun.

Speaking at a panel session of the Future Technologies Forum in Moscow, Putin shared with the public a problem faced by Russian defense industry experts while developing the Oreshnik missile.

Explaining that Russian experts are looking for ways to prevent Oreshnik's warheads from melting like ice cream during flight, Putin said, "They were thinking of making such systems in the late 80s. They couldn't, because there was no material. That was the problem. It was flying and melting like an ice cream," he said.

Noting that the new developments are the result of work with new materials, Putin said, "The whole world is talking about Oreshnik missiles. So what are the ingredients? The temperature of these warheads coincides with the temperature of the Sun. To the temperature on the surface of the sun. We know that since the 80s, systems have been developed that guide the flying block. We called it 'Avant-garde'. The temperatures in that system are similar to this. It's a little less than the surface of the sun," he said.

"If foreigners return to the Russian market, we must maintain our superiority"

Putin also shared his views on this issue in the light of the lifting of sanctions against Russia in the new era that started with President Donald Trump in the United States.

Stating that Western sanctions play an important incentive role for Russia, and that despite all the difficulties, national solutions are often more effective than those of foreigners, Putin said, "Our national producers should maintain their superiority if foreigners return to the Russian market. He must do this sensitively, carefully. However, it must be done," he said.

"Our door is open to foreign scientists"

Putin emphasized that, unlike the West, Russia invites foreign scientists to cooperate and its doors are open, giving the message that they will not cause any difficulties to foreign experts in this regard.

"Russia is the absolute leader of the Arctic"

The President of Russia, in response to a question, noted that his country is the absolute leader in the Arctic and that many countries want to cooperate in the manufacture of icebreakers.
