MBDA has announced the appointment of Lorenzo Mariani as its new Executive Group Director of Sales & Business Development, effective April 1, 2025. Mariani will succeed Giovanni Soccodato in this role and will report directly to Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA. Additionally, Mariani will join MBDA's Executive Committee and take on the role of Managing Director of MBDA Italia.
In his new position, Mariani will oversee a multinational team responsible for driving order intake to ensure MBDA's long-term performance. This includes understanding customer needs and developing solutions that meet both current and future operational requirements.
As Managing Director of MBDA Italia, Mariani will also serve as the legal representative for the company in Italy. His responsibilities will include maintaining effective relationships with Italian customers, end-users, and the broader industrial community. Mariani will also continue overseeing the production ramp-up that began in previous years, a key effort in response to current geopolitical developments.
Lorenzo Mariani joins MBDA after a long tenure at Leonardo, where he held several key positions, most recently as Co-General Manager and Director of Business Operations. He has a strong background in the defense and aerospace industries, having previously worked in sales and business development, as well as in strategy roles at MBDA between 2020 and 2023. His experience also includes leading the Land & Naval Defence Electronics Division at Leonardo and serving as Chief Commercial Officer of the company.
Mariani’s prior leadership roles at Leonardo and MBDA position him to contribute to MBDA's commercial success and future development.
