Lockheed Martin and the F-35 Pax River Integrated Test Force (ITF) have successfully completed an initial flight test of the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) weapon system integrated onto the F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter. This test follows a similar integration of LRASM with the F-35C in September 2024.

As part of the F-35’s Block 4 upgrade, the integration of AGM-158 strike systems, including the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and LRASM, enables external carriage on the F-35. This upgrade enhances the aircraft's multi-role mission capabilities. The recent flight test marks the beginning of the F-35B AGM-158 strike systems flight sciences test program, a step in advancing the platform's capabilities for future operational use.

“The integration of the AGM-158 strike systems family provides increased reach and lethality against protected, strategic targets,” said Jon Hill, Vice President and General Manager of Air Dominance and Strike Weapons at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

Chauncey McIntosh, Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Program at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, emphasized the continued development of the F-35’s capabilities with the addition of these strike systems.

Lockheed Martin, with over 20 years of experience in producing accurate and survivable cruise missiles, is incorporating the F-35’s air dominance with the advanced capabilities of the JASSM and LRASM weapon systems. Over 1,100 F-35 aircraft are currently operational, having collectively surpassed 983,400 flight hours.
