The Ministry of Defence of Kuwait has exercised an option to extend in-service support for the Kuwait Air Force’s Eurofighter Typhoon fleet. Leonardo, the programme’s prime contractor, will continue providing Integrated Logistics Support and Training through Leonardo Aviation Services until December 2029 at Salem Al Sabah Base.
The contract follows Kuwait’s 2016 agreement for 28 Eurofighter aircraft, aimed at strengthening national air defence. Deliveries began in late 2021, and most of the aircraft ordered are now in service. The jets were produced in Italy and represent the latest production standard available.
Leonardo Aviation Services, a Kuwaiti entity, will oversee engineering support, maintenance, repair, overhaul, upgrades, supply chain management, and training for both pilots and ground crews.
According to Leonardo, offering integrated support close to the customer is a key element of its global service strategy. The activities in Kuwait are intended to maintain operational readiness and ensure the Eurofighter fleet meets the country’s air defence requirements.
