Saab has signed a framework agreement with the Latvian Ministry of Defence for the RBS 70 NG short-range ground-based air defense system. As part of this agreement, Latvia has placed an order valued at SEK 2.1 billion, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2030.
The order includes RBS 70 NG firing units, missiles, and trainer units. The system features an automatic target tracker and a built-in night sight, allowing operators to engage aerial threats such as aircraft, drones, and missiles at distances of up to nine kilometers.
Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics, noted that the contract will contribute to Latvia’s ground-based air defense capabilities.
Saab is a Sweden-based defense and security company specializing in aeronautics, weapons, sensors, and command and control systems. It has operations in multiple countries and supplies defense solutions to various national armed forces.
