L3Harris Technologies and Air Tractor have delivered the first missionized OA-1K Skyraider II aircraft to support the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). The Skyraider II is designed to assist special operations personnel in fulfilling the demands of the National Defense Strategy and support joint military operations.
The aircraft will be used for a range of missions, including close air support, precision strike, and armed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). Its adaptable design allows Special Operations Forces (SOF) to engage with adversaries across various conflict scenarios. Additionally, the Skyraider II is capable of operating from rugged and remote airfields, providing enhanced flexibility for diverse mission environments.
L3Harris plans to deliver additional Skyraider II aircraft in the near future. The aircraft is based on the multi-role OA-1 Sky Warden platform, which can be tailored to meet a broad spectrum of mission requirements for both U.S. forces and allied operators.
