The KUB-2-E is a result of collaboration between JSC Kalashnikov Concern and the Izhevsk Unmanned Systems Scientific and Production Association (NPO Izhevsk Unmanned Systems). This new loitering munition comes in two variants: a small-class and a medium-class, designed to offer precision strikes across a wide range of operational environments.
The small-class KUB-2-E targets individual personnel and unarmored vehicles, ensuring high accuracy even in complex combat scenarios. The medium-class variant, on the other hand, is designed for broader application, allowing it to engage enemy troops, UAV launch platforms, helicopter staging areas, and both unarmored and lightly armored vehicles.
At IDEX 2025, Kalashnikov will showcase two export models of the KUB-2-E. These drones are equipped with optical-electronic systems, allowing operators to control them throughout their flight, a notable improvement over the basic KUB UAV model, which worked based on pre-designated coordinates. The KUB-2-E is capable of operating day or night, in challenging weather conditions, and even in environments with Electronic Warfare (EW) interference.
The KUB-2 kamikaze drones have already seen action in the Special Military Operation (SVO) zone. On January 16, during its inaugural flight, a KUB-2 drone successfully destroyed a Ukrainian 2S22 Bogdana self-propelled gun in the Pokrovsk direction, working in tandem with the Granat-4 reconnaissance drone.
IDEX 2025 promises to be a high-profile event, with thousands of defense industry leaders, government officials, military personnel, and international delegations in attendance. Alongside the exhibition, participants will engage in round table discussions, the International Defence Conference (IDC), and other events such as the IDEX and NAVDEX Start-up Zones, offering ample networking and collaboration opportunities.
