Iran deploys missiles on Gulf islands

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have deployed new missile systems on Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa islands near the Strait of Hormuz.

The systems reportedly have a range of up to 600 kilometers and are intended to target regional threats.

The deployment follows recent military exercises and coincides with ongoing tensions, including a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump urging nuclear talks.

Iran has controlled the islands since 1971, though their sovereignty is contested by the United Arab Emirates.
