Taiwan’s F-16V fighters to receive AIM-120D missiles

Taiwan’s F-16V fighter jets are set to enhance their combat capabilities with the integration of AIM-120D air-to-air missiles. The upgrade aims to strengthen Taiwan’s air defense and deterrence capabilities amid growing regional tensions.

The AIM-120D, an advanced version of the AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile), offers extended range, improved targeting accuracy, and enhanced electronic counter-countermeasures. It is designed for beyond-visual-range (BVR) combat, providing Taiwan’s Air Force with a modernized arsenal to counter potential aerial threats.

The F-16V, an upgraded variant of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, features advanced radar systems, enhanced avionics, and improved weapon systems. The addition of the AIM-120D missile aligns with Taiwan’s broader efforts to modernize its defense capabilities and maintain aerial superiority in the region.

This enhancement comes as part of Taiwan’s ongoing military modernization program, which includes upgrades to its existing fighter fleet and acquisitions of new defense technologies.
