At this year’s Euronaval exhibition in Paris, BAE Systems introduced GRINDSTONE, an advanced simulation software developed for its Bofors weapon systems. Joakim Piscator, Project Engineering Manager at BAE Systems Bofors AB, shared insights about the software in an exclusive interview with defensehere.com.

GRINDSTONE allows users to simulate weapon performance across various scenarios and target types, providing detailed analyses of ammunition and system effectiveness. Piscator highlighted the software’s ability to optimize operational strategies, enabling users to determine the most effective and cost-efficient approach for achieving mission objectives.

The software minimizes the need for live-fire tests, reducing costs and improving efficiency. Its high-resolution 3D models and interactive features deliver unparalleled clarity in visualizing the impact of naval artillery systems. Piscator underscored that GRINDSTONE leverages decades of expertise and live-testing data to offer cutting-edge solutions for modern defense challenges.

Euronaval 2024 served as a premier platform for the launch of GRINDSTONE, reinforcing BAE Systems’ commitment to innovation in weapon system technology while addressing the growing demand for precision and cost-effectiveness in the global defense sector.
