Erdoğan: Turkish UAVs and UCAVs protect skies of over 50 nations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, addressing the 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Base Command in Batman city, highlighted Türkiye's growing leadership in UAV technology and its significant contributions to both national defense and global security.

Erdoğan expressed pride in the accomplishments of Turkish armed forces, particularly the advances in unmanned aerial systems. “Our UAVs and UCAVs are not only safeguarding Türkiye's skies but also those of over 50 friendly nations,” he said.

Türkiye has become a global leader in UAV and UCAV development, ranking among the top three to four nations worldwide in this field. From early models like the TB-2 and ANKA to cutting-edge systems like Akıncı, TB-3, ANKA-3, Aksungur, and Kızılelma, Türkiye's innovative approach has redefined modern aerial warfare.

Erdoğan highlighted the significant increase in local production capabilities, with domestic contributions to the defense industry rising from 20% to 80% over recent years. This rapid development has allowed Türkiye to export UAVs and UCAVs to numerous countries, making it the largest global exporter of such systems last year.

The Batman 14th UAV Base Command stands as a testament to Türkiye's dedication to advancing unmanned technologies. The president emphasized the strategic importance of UAVs in safeguarding national security and responding to regional challenges.

“Every development in our region reaffirms the critical importance of our investments in UAVs,” Erdoğan stated, adding that these advancements bolster Türkiye's position as a global defense actor.

Türkiye's vision extends beyond just technological achievements. “We aim to make Türkiye a globally influential actor,” Erdoğan declared. He underscored the essential role of UAV systems in achieving this goal, noting the continuous efforts to improve capabilities and maintain leadership in this rapidly evolving field.
