The E190F program was launched in May 2022 to address growing demand in the air cargo market, particularly in e-commerce and regional logistics. The aircraft conducted its first flight in April 2024 and was publicly showcased at the Farnborough Airshow in July 2024.
Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation, described the certification as a significant step in the company’s passenger-to-freighter conversion program. He highlighted the increasing need for faster and more efficient cargo solutions beyond major metropolitan areas.
Converted E-Jets offer over 40% more volume capacity than large cargo turboprops, with three times the range and lower operating costs compared to larger narrowbody freighters. The E190F can carry a maximum structural payload of 13,500 kg, utilizing both its main deck and underfloor cargo space.
