Diehl Defence and Elbit Systems have finalized a teaming agreement for the development of the Euro-GATR (Guided Advanced Tactical Rocket), a 70 mm guided rocket designed for the German Bundeswehr's Light Combat Helicopter (LCH). As part of the agreement, Diehl Defence will serve as the prime contractor for the project in Germany.
Euro-GATR is a cost-effective, combat-tested rocket system that has demonstrated high accuracy at ranges of up to 10 km. It is equipped with laser guidance features, including "Lock On After Launch" and "Lock On Before Launch," providing flexibility and precision. The rocket's multipurpose warhead makes it capable of engaging a variety of targets, such as buildings and lightly armored vehicles.
With a track record of use by advanced armed forces worldwide, the Euro-GATR is a mature solution that is commercially available and can be delivered to the German Bundeswehr's LCH within a short timeframe. The rocket can be integrated into the helicopter using either a dedicated Smart Rocket Launcher (SRL) or certified launchers with minor modifications.
Diehl Defence has long been a trusted partner of the German military, providing guided missile systems for the army, air force, and navy. As the prime contractor for Euro-GATR, the company will handle industrial production, knowledge transfer, and long-term maintenance and logistics for the rocket system in Germany.
This partnership builds on Diehl Defence's successful collaboration with Elbit Systems in other fields, such as rocket artillery, and strengthens their combined efforts to provide the German Bundeswehr with an advanced, economical, and operationally proven armament solution.
