The U.S. Army has finalized a contract modification with BAE Systems worth more than $390 million to upgrade additional Bradley Fighting Vehicles, the company announced Wednesday. The enhanced Bradley A4s will replace older variants and are designed to improve lethality, survivability and safety for Soldiers.
“Lethality, performance and next-generation capability is what the Bradley A4 brings to the fight,” said Bill Sheehy, Ground Maneuver product line director for BAE Systems. “It’s critical that we continue upgrading Bradleys to the modern A4 configuration so that warfighters have the equipment they need to dominate. This award not only fuels our commitment to keep the Army and our allies ready for the fight, but it also ensures our U.S. manufacturing lines stay hot and ready for continued production.”
The Bradley A4 is a key platform in the Army’s Armored Brigade Combat Team formation, featuring digitized electronics for enhanced situational awareness, network connectivity and communications. Built with durability and design commonality, the upgraded vehicle reduces logistics burdens while increasing battlefield effectiveness across varied terrain and conditions.
Production and support are being carried out in partnership with Red River Army Depot (RRAD) and across BAE Systems’ U.S. defense industrial network, including sites in Aiken, South Carolina; Anniston, Alabama; Minneapolis, Minnesota; San Jose, California; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania. Work is already underway, with initial deliveries scheduled to be completed by October 2026.
