Türkiye’s defense giant ASELSAN presented a new version of its short-range air defense system, Korkut 100/25, at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London.
Speaking at the event, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol said the system was developed to address the increasing threat of FPV and tethered drones observed in recent conflicts. He described the 25mm smart ammunition as a core element of the system, designed to disperse into multiple fragments in the air, track its target through radar and laser guidance, and neutralize it by creating a dense cloud of projectiles.
Akyol noted that the Korkut 100/25 features an AI-supported fire control system and is mounted on a wheeled, mobile platform. He emphasized that the development was informed by feedback from the Turkish Armed Forces and shaped by operational needs for a more agile and cost-effective counter-drone capability.
The system is part of Türkiye’s layered air defense initiative known as ÇELİKKUBBE. Akyol recalled that 47 elements of the program were recently delivered with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and that construction of what he called Europe’s largest air defense facility has begun.
ASELSAN is also exhibiting over 100 products at DSEI 2025. Akyol stated that the company has signed agreements with partners from various regions during the exhibition and introduced the completed Korkut 100/25 to the international market for the first time.
He underlined that while the 35mm variant of Korkut has equivalents elsewhere, the 25mm version stands out as a unique system, equipped with advanced radars, electro-optical devices, and precision laser range finders developed by ASELSAN.
