At the LAAD 2025 Defence and Security Exhibition, Airbus Helicopters showcased two key platforms tailored for multi-domain operations: the H145 light twin-engine helicopter and the Flexrotor small tactical unmanned aircraft system (UAS).
Speaking to defensehere.com, Alberto Robles Sendin, Head of Airbus Helicopters Latin America, introduced the H145 the best selling helicopter in its category in its HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services) configuration. He underlined the aircraft’s versatility, capable of conducting medical evacuation, firefighting, personnel transport, and logistics missions. With approximately 115 units delivered globally last year, the H145 is widely used in Latin America by military, parapublic, and commercial operators. It is particularly valued for its hot-and-high performance and low operating costs.
Robles Sendin also presented the Flexrotor, a Group 2 VTOL UAV with a maximum take-off weight of 25 kg and endurance of up to 14 hours.
Designed for ISR missions, it supports modular payloads such as electro-optical sensors and can autonomously take off and land within a 3.7 x 3.7-meter footprint—on land or at sea. The system’s portability, ease of use, and quiet piston engine make it ideal for both civil and defense applications including border security, wildfire monitoring, and maritime surveillance.
Initial Flexrotor demonstrations held during LAAD 2025, where Airbus reported strong interest from regional stakeholders.
