Sandra Mijatović, an executive at Zastava Arms, spoke to Defensehere.com at PARTNER 2025 Defense exhibition, which took place in Belgrade, Serbia.

Serbia-based Zastava Arms, one of the region’s oldest and largest forging and weapons manufacturers, oversees all stages of production within its own facilities.

“We are one of the biggest forging companies. Everything is done inside our own factory. When the steel arrives, it goes through cutting, mechanical processing, thermal processing, and then forging on presses depending on what we need,” Mijatović said.

Mijatović explained that the company plays a major role in military manufacturing. Zastava Arms produces forged components for various military vehicles, including parts used in T-47 and T-72 tanks, as well as complete continuous-track systems. “We also forge military guns and weapon parts. All components required for a firearm or any military system are made by us,” she said.

She added that the company maintains strong cooperation with many defense-sector partners and is currently expanding its international outreach. “We are in negotiations with several countries, including Türkiye, nations in the Middle East, and many others. We had a delegation from Algeria visit us, and they are also interested in cooperating,” she noted.
