Neros, a recently established U.S. drone startup, has secured a contract to deliver 6,000 FPV (First-Person View) attack drones to Ukraine over the next six months. The agreement marks the largest production rate achieved by any U.S. drone manufacturer to date.
The selection process for the contract involved 260 competing companies, with multiple rounds of rigorous testing before Neros emerged as the chosen supplier. The company's rapid drone development strategy and battlefield-oriented approach set it apart in an industry facing challenges in scaling up FPV drone production.
According to Forbes, this contract is part of a broader international effort to supply Ukraine with unmanned aerial systems as the country continues to expand their battlefield applications. While U.S. manufacturers have struggled to match the production scale of Chinese drone makers, Neros has designed its operations around fast, cost-effective manufacturing using non-Chinese supply chains.
Founded by former professional drone racers Soren Monroe-Anderson and Olaf Hichwa, Neros has managed to design, manufacture, and deploy its drones to Ukraine within months of launching. The company is currently producing hundreds of drones per month and intends to use new funding to expand its workforce and production capacity.
Despite Chinese drone makers dominating the market with lower-cost alternatives, Neros aims to provide cost-effective FPV drones priced in the low four-figure range while maintaining an independent supply chain.
By accelerating the transition from development to deployment, Neros is positioning itself as a significant player in the rapidly evolving landscape of FPV attack drones on the modern battlefield.
