The British Army enhanced its land capabilities with two major deliveries last week, receiving new platforms from Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) and GM Defense.

RBSL handed over the first Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle assembled in the United Kingdom. Built at the Telford facility, the vehicle was transferred to Bovington Camp to serve as a training platform. It marks the first delivery under the £2.3 billion Mechanised Infantry Vehicle program, which will produce more than 500 vehicles domestically across multiple variants. The program brings industrial capacity back to the UK while providing the Army with a modern platform featuring modular protection, high mobility, and digital battlefield integration.

GM Defense also began delivering ISV Utility vehicles to the British Army. The first set of vehicles has already arrived in the UK, marking a key milestone in supporting NATO and allied operations. From the initial request to delivery in just 30 days, GM Defense expedited the process to ensure rapid handover to its UK partner NP Aerospace. The vehicles are now being prepared for operational use, with NP Aerospace integrating advanced technology and modifications to meet UK operational standards and program requirements.

Based on GM’s mid-size Chevrolet truck platform, the ISV Utility is derived from the Infantry Squad Vehicle and features a cargo bed designed to carry mission kits and supplies. The design incorporates a high percentage of commercial components, offering ease of maintenance and commonality across variants. GM Defense stated that this delivery highlights its focus on agility, collaboration, and delivering value to allied nations by providing technologies that enhance operational capabilities.
