Türkiye and Spain cooperate on Jet Trainer Project

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries of the Republic of Türkiye and the Spanish Ministry of Defense for the Jet Trainer Project.

Announcing the agreement on his social media account, SSB President Haluk Görgün said:  "Today, we are proud to witness another of our historic steps in the defense industry. The Memorandum of Understanding, which will form the basis of our cooperation with Spain, our old ally in NATO, for the Jet Trainer Project, was signed between our Presidency of Defense Industries and the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

This important agreement is not only an indicator of Türkiye’s goal of developing independent technologies, but also a sign of strong cooperation with friendly and allied countries."

In his statement last month, Turkish Aerospace General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that there is a serious demand for HÜRJET from Europe, North Africa, Central Asia and the Turkic republics, and that they have made progress in the negotiations regarding exports.

In the foreign press, it was stated that HÜRJET, which was also examined by the Spanish Air Force, would replace the F-5 aircraft in the Spanish Air Force.
