In a major step toward enhancing defense industry relations, Türkiye and Malaysia have signed several key agreements aimed at further advancing their defense, communication, and technological collaborations. These agreements, signed during the official visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Malaysia, will significantly bolster defense procurement, strategic communication cooperation, and joint initiatives in aviation and technology innovation. These agreements outline an expanded collaboration on defense products, cutting-edge communication systems, and joint research in aviation and technology. The deals aim to strengthen Malaysia’s local defense production capabilities, particularly by utilizing Turkey’s advanced defense technology. This partnership also emphasizes a shared commitment to regional security, ensuring long-term strategic benefits for both nations.

Haluk Görgün, the President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), expressed pride in Türkiye’s growing influence in the global defense market during his visit to Malaysia. In the presence of President Erdoğan, Görgün participated in numerous discussions and agreements with Malaysian officials, covering smart city security, traffic systems, communication technologies, and high-tech defense solutions.

In addition to formal agreements, discussions were held between Turkish companies and Malaysian authorities on various defense projects, including communication systems, maritime platform modernization, and artificial intelligence. Notably, partnerships were forged between ASELSAN and Sapura on communication systems, ASELSAN-HAVELSAN with LUNAS Shipyard on naval platform modernization, and HAVELSAN with MIMOS-Techinsight on artificial intelligence collaborations.

Görgün remarked, “It is a great honor to accompany President Erdoğan on his official visits to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. As we engage in high-level meetings, it is evident that Türkiye’s defense industry is growing into a prominent player on the international stage. With each step, we are confident that we will continue to achieve even greater successes.
