Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB), paid a one day working visit to Damascus, Syria where he met with Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra.
In a statement shared on his official social media account, Görgün wrote:
“As part of our one day working visit to Damascus, the capital of Syria, we met with Syrian Defense Minister Mr. Murhaf Abu Qasra.
Within the scope of our visit, we also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Damascus, where we were briefed by our Ambassador Mr. Burhan Köroğlu and our esteemed diplomats on the ongoing activities.
I would like to thank all our counterparts for their kind hospitality and constructive meetings.”
According to the SSB, the meetings in Damascus focused on bilateral defense and industrial cooperation issues. Görgün’s visit marks one of the highest level engagements between the two countries’ defense institutions in recent years, following ongoing efforts to rebuild Syria’s defense infrastructure.
