The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has placed an order with Saab for its RBS 70 NG short-range air defense system, along with associated missiles. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 1.5 billion, with deliveries planned between 2027 and 2028.
The order includes components that will allow the system to be adapted for integration into a mobile short-range air defense (MSHORAD) platform in the future.
Saab confirmed the order was booked in the second quarter of 2025. The RBS 70 NG, designed for ground-based air defense operations, includes an automatic target tracker and night-fighting capability. It is capable of engaging a range of aerial threats—such as aircraft, drones, and missiles—at distances of up to nine kilometers.
This latest acquisition forms part of Sweden’s broader effort to enhance its national air defense capacity amid a shifting regional security environment.
