Swedish defense and security company Saab has announced several changes to its Group Management team, reflecting the company’s ongoing transformation and strategic growth.

Eva Karlsson has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will join the Group Management team. Karlsson previously served as President of Segment Land Vehicles for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Dometic. She brings extensive leadership experience from her tenure at Dometic, as well as from Assa Abloy and ABB. Karlsson will assume her new role no later than August 1, 2025.

With the creation of the COO role, Saab’s Group Operational Excellence division will now report to the COO. As a result, Charlotta Björklund, currently Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence, will leave the Group Management team on March 1, 2025, and subsequently report to Karlsson.

Additionally, the company's business areas are experiencing significant growth, leading to an increased focus on their strategic priorities. As a result, the scope of the Group Strategy function is being adjusted to concentrate on Saab’s overarching strategic areas. Consequently, Christian Hedelin, currently Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, will leave the Group Management team and report to Deputy CEO Anders Carp, effective March 1, 2025.

Commenting on the changes, Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson stated:

"As Saab undergoes a transformative phase, it is natural to make changes in responsibilities and organizational structures. I want to thank Charlotta and Christian for their valuable contributions to Group Management over the years and look forward to their continued impact in their new roles. Additionally, I welcome Eva to Saab and am excited about her joining the team as a strong and experienced COO. Saab remains a growth-focused company, and these adjustments position us well for continued success."
