Korotchenko emphasized the importance of the political messages delivered by both leaders, stating that they demonstrated a “clear intention to elevate Russia-Azerbaijan relations to a comprehensive format of cooperation and development.” He added that holding the meeting within the CIS framework was of “principled significance,” as it reinforced collective efforts to reduce external manipulation and promote regional stability.
The analyst expressed confidence that the discussions would foster “a favorable environment for the development of the entire spectrum of political, economic, social, and cultural ties between Russia and Azerbaijan.” He noted that both countries appeared ready to “turn pages that have brought more sorrow than joy” and move toward a “clearer horizon of progress.”
Korotchenko highlighted the growing importance of economic cooperation, citing active collaboration between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk and his Azerbaijani counterparts. He said the two presidents had created “excellent opportunities to expand trade, increase mutual turnover, and continue implementing new joint projects.”
On defense industry relations, Korotchenko recalled that Russia had supplied Azerbaijan with over $5 billion worth of weapons and remained a regular participant at the ADEX international defense exhibition in Baku. He also mentioned the possibility of future deliveries of Russian Su-35 fighter jets to the Azerbaijani Air Force and modernization of existing Russian-made military systems.
“The meeting between the two leaders has become an important signal,” Korotchenko concluded, “showing that Moscow and Baku are ready to move past complex chapters and focus on a positive agenda centered on economic cooperation, security, and stability across the South Caucasus and the post-Soviet space.”
