Raytheon, an RTX business, has begun construction on a $53 million expansion of its Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) Production Facility in Andover, Massachusetts.
The 23,000-square-foot addition will increase capacity for manufacturing and integration of the LTAMDS radar system, designed to counter evolving air and missile threats, including hypersonic weapons.
“This vital investment will significantly bolster our ability to meet the growing global demand for LTAMDS,” said Tom Laliberty, President of Land and Air Defense Systems at Raytheon. “The expansion will accelerate delivery of this critical radar to U.S. and international customers, ensuring they are equipped with the most advanced defense technology available.”
The Andover facility serves as the final integration site for LTAMDS radars and currently conducts testing for the Patriot air defense system. Raytheon’s Andover campus, which first opened in 1980, has long supported radar and missile system production for both U.S. and allied forces.
Construction on the new facility is expected to be completed by late 2026.
